In modern times, there are many forms of energy healing that have been integrated into medical practice. One of the most popular of these is called Reiki, which uses the body’s own energy as well as chakras to clear away negative energies and balance out imbalances in the body.
What is energy healing?
Energy healing is a practice that’s estimated to have evolved in Japan more than 2,000 years ago. Depending on where you live, energy healing may also be referred to as pranic healing, biofield therapy or qigong healing. According to Esther & Jerry Hicks, authors of The Law of Attraction, Reiki is a specific form of energy healing that works through what they call spiritual laws. This type of healing involves a practitioner placing his or her hands on or near another person in order to send healing energy into that person’s body. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei which means God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power, and Ki which means life force energy. A practitioner uses his or her hands to channel life force energy into someone else for health purposes. As a form of alternative medicine, energy healing may not be covered by your health insurance; however there are still plenty of benefits associated with it.
How can it help you?
In Western medicine, you’re usually urged to get checked out right away if something seems wrong. You don’t see a doctor to be told that there’s nothing physically wrong with you. But what if it isn’t a physical thing? What if it is an energetic or spiritual imbalance? If your body can heal on its own, then maybe you should consider alternative medicine like reiki healing. During treatments, a practitioner places his hands on or above specific chakra points and uses energy to help rebalance your qi (life force) and rid your body of energy blockages.
What’s the difference between energy healing and other types of healing?
Traditional medicine focuses on treating an identified problem. For example, if you have cancer, your doctor will try to treat or remove it. Energy healing is different in that it focuses on releasing stagnant energy so that your body can heal itself. Your body has incredible powers to heal itself, but sometimes old emotional blockages prevent your body from doing its job. An energy healer acts as a conduit to help move negative energy out of your system so that healing can begin.
Can anyone benefit from reiki?
The benefits of reiki extend to many areas, including spirituality, health and relationships. One could say reiki is a method that helps create harmony among various aspects of our lives, which certainly enhances well-being. Whether you’re looking for a way to relax or need an energy boost, reiki might be able to help. The technique is easy to learn and can be performed on yourself. This makes it a great option for those who want to learn self-healing techniques or have trouble letting others touch them. A reiki practitioner will place their hands in certain positions around your body and move them as needed. These movements are similar to a massage—but reiki works from a distance, meaning there’s no physical contact between you and your healer. Many people feel like they experience some type of charge during a session, perhaps their mind clears or they feel lighter after being treated by reiki energy healing.
Who can give you a reiki treatment?
Here’s a good rule of thumb to follow: A reiki treatment can be given by anyone who has taken a course and become certified. Some people choose to be treated only by those who have several years experience and a long list of clients, but other people choose to have their treatments from those just starting out. It comes down to what you feel comfortable with; there are no hard and fast rules on who is qualified for your treatments. The best way to find someone in your area is by word-of-mouth or via your practitioner’s website. These days, it’s common for practitioners to post photos or even videos (some will Skype) so you can meet them before committing. We at Sonaamon, guided by Reiki Grandmaster Renu Choudhary have been raising awareness about reiki and energy healing since 2000s. Will I have to take my clothes off during the treatment?
No. Treatments are given fully clothed in a relaxing environment. During treatment, you’ll sit or lie down comfortably and relax, letting my hands guide your energy fields to a state of balance, harmony and well-being. Most people fall asleep during their treatments—because they feel so relaxed! A typical session lasts one hour, although custom sessions can be arranged.
How long will it take?
The first step is to set aside a solid block of time. Many people who say they don’t have time for Reiki, in reality, just haven’t dedicated enough time for it. We recommend two hours, once a week for three weeks, before making any conclusions about whether it works or not. That gives you plenty of opportunity to experience some results and see if you enjoy it or not. If so, you can then think about adding additional appointments throughout your week as needed.
